Meet Dr. Lee Mahlmann
Why Orthodontics?
Dr. Mahlmann’s greatest passions are creating amazing smiles and helping people improve their lives. That is why he chose to be an orthodontist.
He knows how a beautiful smile opens many doors in a person’s life by making them more confident and outgoing and helping their self-esteem.
Dr. Mahlmann has learned through many years of practice that it takes a team effort to achieve a goal of a great smile. He has created an environment that brings everyone together as a team with a common goal. The resulting smiles are genuinely helping patients become all they can be.
Education & Experience
Dr. Mahlmann graduated with honors from Lamar University with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. He completed his dental degree at the University of Texas Dental School in Houston.
At graduation, he received two awards: one for outstanding student in crown and bridge dentistry and another for outstanding student in undergraduate orthodontics and the study of the orofacial complex.
After dental school, he entered the two-year orthodontic residency program at the UT Dental School in Houston. There, he received his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate and Master of Science degree.

Meet Dr. Catharine Borders
Why Orthodontics?
Dr. Catharine Borders knows that a smile from a loved one, friend, or stranger can brighten someone’s day. She became an orthodontist to create beautiful smiles for her patients that will give them the confidence and self-esteem to smile and brighten the day of those around them.
Dr. Borders and her family are happy to call Texas their home and excited to be involved in the Richmond community. As the saying goes: “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.”
Education & Experience
Dr. Borders earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry from the University of Louisville. She graduated valedictorian from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
After dental school, she attended residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry, receiving her certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and Master of Science in dentistry.
Dr. Borders served as chief resident during her residency and a part-time professor of orthodontics at UT-Houston dental school from 2016-2020. Dr. Borders is also a board-certified Orthodontist.
